Botox

Description of Treatment

Botox is a Botulinum toxin type A, a purified protein and a neurotoxin produced by Bacterium Clostridium. In the last two decades Botox brought the greatest advancement in modern aesthetic and general medicine, and it is also the most popular and effective aesthetic treatment in the world. It removes fine and deep wrinkles, improves contours of the face and eyes, and its effect is visible within a few days without fear of a surgical knife. Botox effectively removes wrinkles on the forehead, frowns and tiny eye wrinkles. It can additionally remove wrinkles on the nose and raise eyebrows, lip corners and tighten the neck.

Recently, a treatment called ‘Baby botox’ (micro botox) which is performed with lower doses of botox injections and eliminates the vast majority of unwanted lines of treated areas while keeping facial expressions, is extremely popular. A small dose allows movement of the facial muscles, resulting in a more natural result. The effect may be slightly shorter than standard botox. Baby botox can be used in the late twenties, in the early stages of the development of wrinkles to prevent their development.

Preparation for procedure

Prior to the application of botox, the work of individual muscles involved in facial mimicry is examined in each patient. After precise identification of the muscles that produce unwanted wrinkles, Botox is applied with a thin needle. The muscles relax over time as botox blocks the nerve impulses to the muscle. The skin that covers these muscles tightens and smoothes out because the remaining active muscle is tense, thus eliminating wrinkles.

FAQ

How does it work?
Prior to the application of Botox in each patient, our doctor examines the work of the individual muscles involved in facial mimicry.

Is treatment painful?
The treatment lasts 5-10 minutes and is practically painless. It is possible to apply pain relief cream before treatment, but the needles are so thin that there is almost no need for it. Many patients have experienced the feeling of injecting botox with acupuncture treatments or eyebrow tapping.

How long does a botox effect last?
Botox results become visible after 2-7 days, and the effect should last about 3-6 months. If the patient repeats the treatments on a regular basis, the muscles become smaller over time, thus prolonging and improving the aesthetic effect of the treatment. Recent research has shown that in patients who have been treated with Botox for years, the wrinkles can be completely wiped out.

Is it safe?
Botox is a purified protein derived from clostridium botulinum. There are many misconceptions about botox, and it is often referred to as poison, which is absolute misinformation. Botox is actually an organic, natural substance, completely harmless. It has been used since the early 70’s in various branches of medicine, including neurology and ophthalmology, and has been used in aesthetic medicine for over 20 years.
